A conservative town, a book shop and a decided woman…
The tale of a funny town and two courageous women from the awardwinning director Isabel Coixet based on the well-received novel of Penelope Fitzgerald.
It is not always easy to accept the “new”. Set in a small town in 1959 England, this is what happened. This is the story of a woman who decides, against polite but ruthless local opposition, to open a bookshop. She seems lonely against a collection of conservative locals, only at first. However, a woman can achieve any ideal if she has the will of a steal. This decision of opening a bookshop becomes a political minefield full of irony and comedy.
