You can recognize no boundary to save your family.

Jaclyn Jose’s performance, awarded in 2016 Cannes, hits the audience with a great emotional punch in this new atmospheric drama by Cannes’ regular director Mendoza, telling the story of a devastated family in a poor neighborhood.

Synopsis:
Ma’ Rosa lives in Manilla, the capital of Philippines. She has four children. She owns a small convenient store in a poor neighborhood where everybody likes her. Like all mothers, Rosa does her best for her children to have a healthy future. To make ends meet, Rosa and her husband, Nestor, resell small amounts of narcotics on the side. One day, they get arrested. Now it’s the children’s time to their best for their parents. Rosa’s children are ready to do anything, even sacrifice their honor, to buy their parents’ freedom from the corrupt police. These 4 kids who are pushed into crime are supposed to save their family from the tragedy, but how?
Who could reflect the struggles and sacrifices of a shattered family on the dark side of Philippines better than Mendoza?
